Cambridge, MA. December 14, 2006. – The largest residence at MIT, Sidney-Pacific Graduate Student Residence (S-P), picked Aerva’s digital signage solution to drive its internal television station SPTV. S-P houses 700 students and uses SPTV to inform residents about announcements, upcoming events and weather conditions, as well as to provide entertainment with student art and videos from past events. The Aerva solution drives a large screen in the lobby, as well as smaller LCD screens outside the elevators on every floor of this nine-story building. Ben Mares, VP of Information of S-P said, “Flexibility and support were the biggest factors in our decision to adopt the Aerva system. Our home-built software served us well, but it became too unwieldy as we attempted things like integration with web content and Flash animation. Aerva supports all these features out-of-the-box. Moreover, the SDK from Aerva allowed us to adapt the functionality to our own needs by integrating with our existing content management infrastructure.”Karthik Balakrishnan, SPTV Co-chair, added, “Due to the modularity of the design, it was easy to extend the platform to suit our needs. We have also been very happy with the support and technical prowess of the Aerva team.” “The technical due diligence from MIT and their ultimate adoption exemplifies the quality of Aerva’s interactive, digital signage solution. We are very happy to see the MIT students use our SDK to extend the functionality to suit their own needs,” said Sanjay Manandhar, President of Aerva.
